Cryptosporidium Test Stool

A chlorine-resistant parasite that causes prolonged watery diarrhea.

About Cryptosporidium

Cryptosporidium is a microscopic parasite transmitted through contaminated water, including swimming pools and drinking water. It infects the lining of the small intestine, leading to watery diarrhea, dehydration, and fatigue. In healthy individuals, symptoms usually resolve on their own, but infection can be severe and persistent in immunocompromised people. Because the parasite is resistant to standard chlorine treatment, outbreaks are difficult to control. Detection indicates active intestinal infection rather than past exposure.
