Enterococcus species are normal inhabitants of the gastrointestinal tract and help metabolize carbohydrates. Their abundance is strongly influenced by stomach acid levels and intestinal transit time. Elevated levels may reflect low stomach acid, constipation, or prior antibiotic exposure. While part of normal flora, overgrowth can contribute to dysbiosis and inflammation. Context with other bacteria is essential for interpretation.
Enterococcus Species is included in these pre-built panels.
