Escherichia species, including nonpathogenic E. coli strains, are normal residents of the colon. In balanced amounts, they help prevent colonization by harmful organisms. Elevated levels may reflect inflammation, impaired gut motility, or reduced microbial diversity. Overrepresentation can also occur after antibiotic use or during stress-related gut changes. Interpretation focuses on relative abundance rather than detection alone.
Escherichia Species is included in these pre-built panels.
