b-Tetrahydrocortisone Test

A cortisone breakdown product that reflects inactivation of stress hormones.

About b-Tetrahydrocortisone

Beta tetrahydrocortisone is a metabolite of cortisone, the inactive form of cortisol. It reflects how much cortisol has been converted into an inactive state and subsequently metabolized. This marker helps distinguish whether cortisol abnormalities are driven by overproduction, excessive inactivation, or altered enzyme balance. Imbalances may be influenced by inflammation, insulin resistance, or genetic variation in cortisol converting enzymes.
