Medications, Made Simple
A physician reviews your health history and, if appropriate, sends a prescription to your preferred pharmacy. Several medications need just a $49 online visit to get started; the rest require Instalab Membership.

About our medications

Clinician-reviewed prescriptions for cholesterol, blood sugar, heart, weight, gout, hair, and sexual health. HSA/FSA eligible, with ongoing care for members.

Do I need an existing prescription to order?

No. Instalab's US-licensed physicians review your intake online and, if a medication is appropriate for you, write the prescription themselves. You don't need to bring one from another provider.

Who writes the prescription?

A physician licensed in your state reviews your medical history, current medications, and relevant recent labs, then issues the prescription directly. No outside doctor visit is required.

Do I need to be an Instalab member?

Not always. Starter medications like rosuvastatin, ezetimibe, metformin ER, tadalafil, and propranolol are available to everyone with a one-time online visit fee: a physician reviews your health history and, if they determine treatment is appropriate, sends a prescription with refills for up to one year to the pharmacy you choose. If no prescription is issued, the visit fee is refunded. Other medications, higher doses, and any dose changes require an Instalab membership, which covers ongoing physician access, dose adjustments, lab-based monitoring, and insurance navigation. Members never pay online visit fees.

Are lab tests required before I can get a prescription?

Sometimes. For most cholesterol, metabolic, and GLP-1 medications, we will ask for recent labs so our team can prescribe and monitor safely. You can upload existing recent results.

Do you ship medications?

We work with pharmacies that ship many medications, and you can always pick your own pharmacy instead. If a physician approves the prescription, we send it to the pharmacy you chose, and you pay them directly for the medication.

What happens if the physician decides a medication is not right for me?

We do our best to figure out your eligibility before any purchase. In the scenario where you are not approved, a physician will explain why and may recommend a different option, additional testing, or face-to-face evaluation.

Can I change my dose or switch medications later?

With an Instalab membership, yes. You can request dose adjustments or switch to a different medication at any time, and your care team will update the prescription. If you bought through an online visit, your prescription covers the same dose for up to one year; renewing after that takes a new online visit, and dose changes require membership.

Can I use my health insurance?

For brand medications like Repatha, Leqvio, Wegovy, and Zepbound, Instalab membership includes insurance navigation, prior authorizations, and appeals. The online visit is cash-pay and not billed to insurance, but your pharmacy can still run your insurance for the medication itself. Generic medications like rosuvastatin and metformin typically cost $4 to $15 per month in cash, which is sometimes less than a co-pay.

Can I transfer an existing prescription to Instalab?

In most cases, your Instalab physician will issue a new prescription after reviewing your medical history, rather than transferring an outside one. This lets us confirm the dose, medication, and monitoring plan fit your goals before we ship.

What does the online visit include?

A licensed physician reviews your questionnaire and health history; there is no call or video, and the physician messages you if they have questions. If they determine treatment is appropriate, they write a prescription with refills for up to one year, sent to a delivery pharmacy or one near you. If no prescription is issued, the visit fee is refunded. You pay the pharmacy directly for the medication. The fee is one-time, not a subscription, and is waived for Instalab members; renewing after a year requires a new online visit.
