Is Lipofit Safe? FDA Found Prozac and a Banned Toxin Inside?
If you have a bottle of Lipofit Extreme Fat Burner 2.0 (lot 25M12F, expiration 09/2027), stop taking it and use the recall line to return it. FDA lab testing found the daytime tablets spiked with Prozac and the nighttime tablets spiked with 2,4-dinitrophenol, an industrial pesticide long banned for human use. Two prescription-strength drugs are hidden inside Lipofit Extreme Fat Burner 2.0 (lot 25M12F, expiration 09/2027), and an FDA laboratory has identified both. The morning tablet contains fluoxetine, the SSRI sold as Prozac. The evening tablet contains 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP), a compound the FDA banned for human use in 1938 and now allows only as an industrial pesticide. The manufacturer, Ana Salazar Modela Tu Cuerpo Inc., issued a nationwide voluntary recall on August 27, 2026. What's actually in each pill
Lipofit was sold nationwide online, and each daily pack held two different tablets. This isn't a labeling slip or a trace contamination. Someone put prescription-strength drugs into a bottle marked as a supplement, one in each pill.

The evening pill is the real emergency
DNP is a mitochondrial poison. It short-circuits the way your cells make energy so that the energy comes out as heat instead of ATP. That's why people take it to lose weight, and it's why it kills. Poison-center data from 38 countries put the case fatality of a systemic DNP exposure at about 12%; a UK series put it at 17%.
The warning pattern is the same one that predicts death: soaking sweats, racing heart, feeling too hot, agitation, muscle rigidity. Those signs can look mild for hours before the temperature climbs past 40°C and the heart rhythm collapses. Reported deaths have come as fast as a few hours after ingestion, on average around 14 hours. There's no antidote. Only supportive care, and it works better the earlier it starts. If you took the PM pill and feel any of those signs, go to an emergency room now and say you may have taken 2,4-dinitrophenol.
The morning pill is a hidden prescription
Fluoxetine at typical doses isn't lethal on its own. It's a prescription SSRI your other clinicians need to know you're taking. Stack it, without their knowledge, on top of another antidepressant, tramadol, a migraine triptan, or a dextromethorphan cough syrup, and the combined serotonin load can tip into serotonin syndrome: tremors, sweating, high heart rate, agitation, sometimes hospital care. Fluoxetine also interacts with warfarin and a range of everyday medications. None of that is anticipatable when the drug is smuggled into a supplement bottle. If you've taken Lipofit Extreme 2.0, tell any prescriber, especially if you're on another antidepressant, tramadol, or a triptan, that you may have been exposed to fluoxetine. Its half-life is long enough that a recent exposure still counts.
"No adverse events reported yet" is not what it sounds like
The recall notice says no adverse events have been linked to this lot so far. Read that carefully. It means no one has yet connected an emergency room visit back to a specific supplement bottle in the short window since FDA testing. It doesn't mean the pills are safe. DNP's early signs, sweating, fast heart, feeling hot, are non-specific enough that a hospital wouldn't trace them to a supplement unless the patient volunteered the bottle.
And Lipofit isn't a freak one-off. Weight-loss products make up about 4 in 10 items on the FDA's Tainted Supplements list, and analytical surveys find undeclared drugs in roughly a third of weight-loss supplements. DNP is one of the most common adulterants in Europe's slimming-supplement alerts. The whole category deserves the same skepticism you'd give an unlabeled prescription bottle.
What to do now

- Tell any prescriber you see, especially if you take another antidepressant, tramadol, a migraine triptan, or a dextromethorphan cough medicine, that you may have been exposed to fluoxetine.
- If in the past few days you've had unexplained profuse sweating, a racing heart, a feeling of being unusually hot, agitation, or muscle rigidity, go to an emergency room and say the words "2,4-dinitrophenol" out loud. Symptoms can look mild for hours and then move fast, and clinicians who don't know what they're treating will lose time.
A pill sold as a fat burner that hides an antidepressant on one side of the blister pack and an industrial pesticide on the other isn't a supplement problem. It's a poisoning event with a label. The only defensible dose is zero.
