A fast, very low-radiation scan that measures the strength of your spine and hips. It’s the gold standard for catching osteoporosis early and one of the best metrics for aging well.
Bone loss is silent. You won’t feel it happening, and the first sign is often a fracture that changes your life overnight. A DEXA bone density scan is the only way to see what’s actually going on inside your skeleton, so you can intervene with strength training, nutrition, or medication while you still have decades of runway.
How It Works
Step 1: Quick Scan of Your Spine and Hips
You’ll lie on a flat, padded table while a very low-dose X-ray arm quietly scans your lumbar spine and hips, the two sites that matter most for fracture risk. The process is completely noninvasive, takes 6-10 minutes, and requires no special preparation.
Step 2: T-Score, Z-Score, and Bone Mineral Density
The scan returns your bone mineral density (BMD) at the lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck. You’ll get both a T-score (how your bones compare to a healthy young adult) and a Z-score (how you compare to others your age), the two numbers clinicians use to diagnose osteopenia and osteoporosis.
Step 3: Review Results and Get Your Action Plan
Instalab will highlight your key findings and explain what they mean for your long-term skeletal health. You’ll receive a personalized action plan covering resistance training, protein and calcium intake, vitamin D, and when to consider further workup.
