Enteroinvasive E. coli/Shigella Test Stool

An invasive bacterial marker linked to inflammatory dysentery.

About Enteroinvasive E. coli/Shigella

This marker detects bacteria capable of invading intestinal cells, including enteroinvasive E. coli and Shigella species. These organisms trigger strong inflammatory responses, often leading to fever, abdominal pain, and sometimes bloody diarrhea. Even moderate levels may be clinically relevant depending on symptoms and immune status. Infection is typically acquired through contaminated food or water and spreads easily via fecal-oral transmission. Detection indicates active presence rather than prior exposure.
