Enterococcus faecalis is a normal inhabitant of the gut that can become problematic when overgrown. It thrives in environments with low stomach acid and after antibiotic exposure. Elevated levels may contribute to intestinal inflammation and can produce metabolites that irritate the gut lining. In vulnerable individuals, it has been associated with systemic infections outside the gut. Stool detection reflects intestinal abundance rather than invasive disease.
Enterococcus Faecalis is included in these pre-built panels.
