You had a clotting panel and your prothrombin time came back long while the rest looked normal. A low level here is the usual reason.
Bruising or Bleeding More Than Seems Normal
You bruise easily, bleed a long time from small cuts, or have heavy periods, and want to know if a clotting protein is running low.
Carrying a Family Bleeding History
A parent or sibling has a diagnosed clotting protein deficiency, and you want to know whether you carry the same low level.

Vitamin K repletion when a deficiency is the cause
Factor VII needs vitamin K to be made in a working form, so when a low level comes from poor vitamin K intake or absorption, restoring vitamin K brings the activity back up. This does nothing for the inherited form, where the gene, not the vitamin, is the problem.
