In a prospective cohort study of 256 patients undergoing intra-arterial thrombectomy, those taking low-dose statins had significantly improved neurological recovery and reduced mortality over two years (odds ratio for favorable outcome: 2.96; p < 0.001).

They reduce cholesterol, improve outcomes, and carry a lower risk of discontinuation due to side effects. For many patients, especially those just beginning statin therapy, low-dose treatment is not a compromise. It’s a smart, evidence-based starting point.
